This is a summary of the 2006 program: 10 April 2006 - 23 April 2006 Easter Egg Trail for Children Especially for the Easter Holidays, a hunt round the castle to search for clues. A small prize for all participants. 16 April 2006 - 17 April 2006 (Bank Holiday) Norman Life Witness Norman life recreated in full glory. Marvel at the power of the Norman cavalry and the skill of mounted hawking. Wander through a period encampment to the sounds of religious chanting and the smells of traditional foods. 28 May 2006 - 4 June 2006 Medieval Living Village Explore an authentically recreated medieval village in the castle grounds. Visit the potter, shoemaker, blacksmith, fletcher and rat catcher. Wander through the stalls and houses to the sounds of medieval music and merriment or simply relax in the village tavern with some real ale. 22 July 2005 - 23 July 2006 The Railway Children Theatre production. 22 July 2006 - 3 September 2006 Window Through The Ages A drawing competition. Children of all ages are asked to imagine how the castle looked in Medieval or Tudor times. 5 August 2006 - 6 August 2006 Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare's romantic tragedy. 22 October 2006 - 29 October 2006 Haunted Hallowe'en Hunt the castle to find spooky clues and collect your prize in the 'Barn of Doom'. 16 December 2006 Carols at the Castle Join in the festive fun with hundreds of local people who gather in the castle grounds for the annual Carol Concert.
